A fan recently wrote to ask where she might see some of my early paintings, particularly the ones of Native Americans and Africans. It's been so long, no doubt these are new to most of you, as they haven't been used publicly. Enjoy! ... See more
I have seriously lost my stitching interest. I LOVE my Millenium Tree of Peace, but I think I got in seriously over my head with my 1st HAED piece being supersized. I haven't even finished 1 page, after working almost daily for a few hours at a time...in January! I haven't picked it up since. Yes, I'm busy with 12 hr work shifts, home life, etc. I've considered just doing all of the black for the entire piece, but we're talking 110 Pages. I took the advice of other seasoned HAED stitchers, and stuck to 1 page at a time. But even with doing all the black on page 1 before going back and filling in the colors, I found that I got lost a few times and had to frog... Small areas mind you, nothing like hundreds of stitches, maybe 10 at the most because the confetti isn't a lot of stitches in 1 area. I really want this piece to be framed and a huge focal point for one of the walls in my house. I wanted this piece so badly, and got the whole $200 kit for Christmas 2016. It was an entire year before i got the opportunity to start, because I wanted to finish a 10x14 non-HAED. I saw so many GORGEOUS pieces from HAED, that I ended up buying chart after chart - I now own 70 charts, not all HAED, but none of them are the 10x14 or smaller store kits I'm used to. I'll never finish even 1/4 of what I bought. Even 28ct is very hard for me to work on. I thought 25 would be a bit better, but not much. There's no way I could do these on a 40ct to make them smaller. And a 14, 18, 20 count...this piece on 25 is already 3ftx4ft. It's 749 x 999 stitches, so going to 18ct Aida instead of my 25ct Easy Count, would be rounded up to something close to 5ft x 6ft, right? And would it still be stitched 2 over 1 like I'm doing as suggested by HAED? I like the tent stitch bc it goes faster than full cross. But if I can't even bring myself to work on it anymore, how am I going to restart and finish this ONE that I love?! This is the last photo I took, I did a few more of the greens, so there's a bit more done than shown here. ... See more
